Richard Burgi supports the Pacific Marine Mammal Center The RBFC Fall 2005 Charity Auction will once again support our official charity, the Pacific Marine Mammal Center in Laguna Beach, California.

The PMMC mission statement (which is reproduced below) does not fully convey the challenges facing the Center. It would be hard indeed to overstress the constant need for long-term volunteers and for donations of time, materiel, and money; one outbreak of domoic acid poisoning can fill the Center to overflowing with sick marine mammals and devour resources -- supplies, medicine, funds -- at an astounding rate.

We are pleased and proud to join Richard and Lori Burgi in their support of this most worthy organization.

Pacific Marine Mammal Center (PMMC) is a non-profit organization staffed by dedicated volunteers and funded by donations.
Its mission is to:
  • rescue, medically treat and rehabilitate marine mammals that are stranded along Orange County, California beaches due to injury or illness;
  • release healthy animals back to their natural habitat; and
  • increase public awareness of the marine environment through education and research.

Item 202 -- A prop Los Angeles Tribune newspaper detailing the exploits of Richard's "Ambulance Wheelman," signed by Richard Burgi; a commemorative "Wheelmen" cap; and an official "one sheet," signed by director Dirk Hagen and Richard Burgi.

Midway through the grueling filming schedule on the first season of FOX’s 24, Richard found himself with a new movie  - the indie production "Wheelmen" The film, a mix of comedy and action, revolves around an unlikely group of heroes - the drivers of Venture Limousine, headed by one-time hotshot ambulance driver, Nick Torino (Richard Burgi)

Nick’s claim to fame - breaking every traffic rule in the book in an effort to get a pregnant woman to the hospital in time to save her and her baby - also proved his undoing; He was fired by the ambulance company before the publicity died down. Six years later, Nick operates Venture Limousine for the absentee owner. He is surprised at work one day by the appearance of a young boy - Arthur, the baby whose life he saved in the ambulance. While trying to find a suitable home for young Arthur, Nick and his team must protect the Vice President (Avery Brooks) from a madcap kidnap scheme.

Wheelmen is currently negotiating a domestic distribution deal, though it has been available in international DVD rental markets and on premium cable channels for a year or more.  Richard graciously signed the prop newspaper, making it a unique piece of "Wheelmen" memorabilia, as director Dirk Hagen did with the promotional one-sheet.

When husband Jack (Kiefer Sutherland) is called away by a crisis at work, Teri Bauer (Leslie Hope) joins Alan in his attempt to track down the missing girls, and this episode finds them at the girls' last known location -- a furniture store where Janet and Kim had gone to fool around with their boyfriends du jour.

RBFC Fall 2005 auction item 701 ** NOTE ** Please, only ONE item per bid email!!
Item 701 -- **SURPRISE ITEM**  An official Return to Cascade Convention tote bag, black canvas with the convention logo silkscreened on the front. The tote is signed in gold "Sharpie" paint-marker by the three Sentinel stars -- Richard Burgi, Garett Maggart, and Bruce A. Young  -- and by the series creators and producers, Danny Bilson and Paul DeMeo.

Return to Cascade was the first Sentinel convention since 1998's CouverCon, and was the first time since The Sentinel ended that all five gentlemen had been reunited. Having all five signatures on this item makes it a truly unique memento of a convention experience treasured by Guests of Honor and attendees alike.

(Donated by the Return to Cascade Convention Committee)
